Life at a standstill, images on the move. Photographs of still lives fly. They are the same photographs through which the pilgrims of the standard pass, the places that are easy to locate with a twist and a GPS. Images-sigla, repeated like marks on the same clothes. The portrait of friends, always the last ones, always through a digital journey, make up the album of a time that is quickly consumed, a global and unrooted journey where the same attrezzo has disembarked a moment before. Érika has set the images in motion. The one of Tsar Nicholas captured in her grandfather's photographic studio in Riga, her family's houses, some before being demolished and others reconstructed from the mist of old photos. With his gaze, he simultaneously reconstructs the political geography of Europe, the layout and old nomenclature of the streets of its cities, the cultural life of its theatres or the pre-war rush of leisure on beaches and summer resorts whose light has hardly changed. Sometimes he has taken the same pictures and sometimes he has captured the atmosphere of a similar landscape. He has travelled to all these places and in exhibitions and displays in local museums he has brought back this look greened through time as a kind of tribute. There is a double will in his work of roots and movement. To take the photos out of his album and wash them again in the light of a current sun, to make them cross these days to put them back in motion.

Vida parada, imágenes en marcha. Vuelan las fotografías de vidas quietas. Son las mismas fotografías por donde pasan los peregrinos de lo standard, los lugares fáciles de localizar a golpe de twist y de GPS. Imágenes-sigla, repetidas como marcas de la misma ropa. El retrato de los amigos, siempre los últimos, siempre a través de un viaje digital, configuran el álbum de un tiempo que se antecede con rapidez de consumirse, un viaje global y desenraizado donde el mismo attrezzo ha desembarcado un momento antes. Érika ha puesto las imágenes en marcha. La del Zar Nicolás captada en el estudio fotográfico de su abuelo en Riga, las casas de su familia, algunas antes de ser derribadas y otras reconstruidas desde la neblina de viejas fotos. Rehace con su mirada al mismo tiempo la geografía política de Europa, el trazado y la nomenclatura antigua en las calles de sus ciudades, la vida cultural de sus teatros o el ocio apresurado antes de la guerra en playas y lugares de veraneo cuya luz apenas ha cambiado. Ha hecho a veces las mismas fotos y otras ha captado el ambiente de un paisaje parecido. Ha viajado por todos esos lugares y ha devuelto en exposiciones y muestras en los museos locales esa mirada reverdecida a través del tiempo como una especie de tributo. Hay una doble voluntad en su obra de raíz y de movimiento. De sacar las fotos de su álbum y lavarlas de nuevo con la luz de un sol actual, de hacerlas cruzar estos días el para ponerlas otra vez en marcha.
